The Fog Is an Important Character in San Francisco

It's dynamic in some ways, predictable in others.  SFers know which neighborhoods the fog hits when, and which weather aggravates or alleviates it.  It is troublesome for my hair, but really awesome to look at.  I can't quite place exactly what it means to the city, but it's something.
